Alaska’s capital Juneau is one of the most beautiful cities and one of the most visited places in Alaska. Downtown Juneau, densely framed by Mount Juneau, Mount Roberts and the Gastineau Channel, is a maze of narrow streets with a mixture of new buildings, old shop fronts and picturesque cottages, relics from the early gold rush days of the 19th century. The harbor is bustling with cruise ships, fishing boats and seaplanes coming and going. Juneau is the only capital in the USA that has no road access and can only be reached by air or sea. Juneau's vibrant downtown district, which is easy to explore on foot, is very popular with visitors. Just a short drive from downtown, you'll find what is probably the most famous attraction - Mendenhall Glacier, located within the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the USA. Visitors can watch the glacier 'calving' and icebergs plunge from its front into Mendenhall Lake, hike or look around the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. Mendenhall Glacier is one of 38 larger glaciers that originate from Juneau Icefield, 3,885 square kilometres in area, many of which can be seen from the air on flightseeing tours. SJU1002 Pack Creek Bear Viewing Tour to Admiralty Island

The Pack Creek Bear Sanctuary on Admiralty Island is one of Alaska’s most accessible, and yet most wild, bear viewing areas. After the scenic floatplane flight from Juneau, walk on the same ground as the bears. Human visitation is limited, allowing us to enjoy a wilderness bear viewing experience. Starting in spring, brown bears come to the meadows to feed and also to pursue mates. This makes it one of the best places to see bears during May and early June. While some Pack Creek bears head into the nearby mountains in mid-June, following fresh green vegetation, some stick around. By the end of June, bears are congregating at the creek, waiting for the first pacific salmon to arrive. From July through early-September, bears can be seen feeding on salmon. This tour is a premium guided and fully-outfitted package. Observe these amazing bears in the protected Kootznoowoo Wilderness on Admiralty Island.

SJU1003 Tracy Arm Fjords Glacier Cruise

Journey through one of the most dramatic sites in the world - Tracy Arm Fjord. This narrow fjord twists and turns for over 30 miles, culminating in a spectacular view of the twin tidewater Sawyer Glaciers. Your captain will navigate as close as the ice floe allows, stopping for an extended stay at the face of the glacier. Watch for seals relaxing on the icebergs and bald eagles soaring above the cliffs. Learn about the natural history of the fjord, glaciers and the wildlife from our onboard naturalist. Gain insights into Tlingit Native culture. Overcast days will not dampen your enjoyment as clouds and mist only heighten the drama of the fjord and intensify the glacial blue color. The vessel features two spacious levels with large windows for unobstructed views, heated cabins and a open upper deck.

SJU1004 Juneau Icefield | Glacier Helicopter Tours

This tour includes a 50-minute flight time that enables passengers to view more of the immense Juneau Icefield when weather permits. This tour takes you deep into the Juneau Icefield and lands in one of our permitted areas. A large portion of the 1500 square mile Juneau Icefield may be observed enroute. Weather permitting an alternate route returning to the airport provides additional scenic possibilities. Our pilots provide custom flights. A 15-minute walk supplements the narrated flight over the glacier with our pilot/guide who can answer additional questions or will use your camera to take photos of you and your friends. We provide transportation to and from the ship docks or selected downtown locations as needed. An additional 45 minutes each direction for transportation and outfitting is required

SJU1005 Juneau City Tour and Mendenhall Glacier Tour

Learn about Juneau's past and present as your motorcoach takes you through the new and historic part of downtown Juneau, Alaska's capital city. See the Governor's Mansion, Gold Creek Bassin, the State Capital Building, the St. Nicholas Historical Russian Orthodox Church, the Miners Museum and the Juneau Museum as well as Douglas Island with scenic views over the Gasitneau Channel and towards downtown Juneau. Stop at DIPAC Salmon Hatchery to learn about the life cycle of the salmon. The tour continues on to Mendenhall Glacier where you'll have time to view all the exhibits at the US Forest Service Visitor Center and Observatory, walk the trail to photo point, and just take in the magnificence of this glacier situated in Juneau's back yard.

Monica, CA: We were looking forward to this tour, and our experience was everything we could have hoped for and more. The day started out very overcast, but once we headed out on the seaplane, the skies cleared and we had an amazing day on Admiralty Island. The seaplane flight was delightful, and this comes from one who is not that wild about flying. We saw bears from the plane, and were even greeted at the beach by a bear as we landed. We were so lucky as we saw bears throughout the day in the area of Pack Creek and at the tower as a few bears fished for salmon. The bears on Admiralty Island are used to the presence of humans, but the rangers on the island, and the guides practice measures that insure the safety of the human visitors as much as is possible. It is a real treat to observe such amazing creatures in their own habitat.
