Juneau Sightseeing Tours and Activities
Alaska’s capital Juneau is one of the most beautiful cities and one of the most visited places in Alaska. Downtown Juneau, densely framed by Mount Juneau, Mount Roberts and the Gastineau Channel, is a maze of narrow streets with a mixture of new buildings, old shop fronts and picturesque cottages, relics from the early gold rush days of the 19th century. The harbor is bustling with cruise ships, fishing boats and seaplanes coming and going. Juneau is the only capital in the USA that has no road access and can only be reached by air or sea. Juneau's vibrant downtown district, which is easy to explore on foot, is very popular with visitors. Just a short drive from downtown, you'll find what is probably the most famous attraction - Mendenhall Glacier, located within the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the USA. Visitors can watch the glacier 'calving' and icebergs plunge from its front into Mendenhall Lake, hike or look around the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. Mendenhall Glacier is one of 38 larger glaciers that originate from Juneau Icefield, 3,885 square kilometres in area, many of which can be seen from the air on flightseeing tours. Experience an extraordinary Alaskan adventure with our captivating road trips and scenic Alaska railroad tours, both commencing or concluding in the vibrant city of Juneau. Please note that the excursions can only be booked in combination with our travel packages.
