SAC1004 Bear Viewing Trip to Brooks Lodge | Katmai National Park

Take off from Anchorage to a full day bear viewing expedition past glaciers and volcanoes - within the land of the giant animals: the brown bear country of southwest Alaska. You'll fly to Katmai's - worlds famous Brooks River Falls where brown bears feed on salmon. Each year millions of sockeye salmons burst from the Bering Sea into lakes and streams of the Katmai National Park. These fish provide the primary food source for the world’s largest population of brown bears. As many as 50 bears may be viewed up-close-and-personal from elevated boardwalks and viewing platforms fishing along the 1 1/2 mile Brooks River during peak season (July). Local National Park Rangers are answering all of your questions about this incredible park during the self guided full day tour.
Daily in July & September | Price: $1450.00

SAC1005 Alaska Bear Viewing Trip to Lake Clark National Park

Lake Clark National Park is located on the western shores of the Cook Inlet. This ocean front setting is the ultimate bear habitat. The creeks that run through the prairies are loaded with Silver Salmon, attracting resident Brown Bear populations to the areas all summer long. The tall grass and a backdrop of the Neacola Mountains make for the best pictures. The flight to Lake Clark is a spectacular flightseeing tour. After a brief safety orientation we will head out into this ideal bear habitat to watch these creatures interact with each other in the wild. The area is excellent for viewing the bears because of the layout and geography; it is a long stretch of prairie grassland and beachfront. Watch as they frolic in the grass with their cubs, dig for clams, and take afternoon naps. This tour includes a hearty packed lunch!
Daily from May – September | Price: $1245.00

Sarah, NY: Our family extended our stay in Anchorage specifically to visit Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park. We flew on a floatplane out of Anchorage. The flight is long but enjoyable and we ended up having 4-5 hours in Katmai. Brooks Falls was a tremendous experience. The brown bears were actively feeding on salmon in the Falls and we could observe from a nearby platform. The park rangers were very helpful and informative. Check out one of the active webcams especially during the month of July. Truly one of the highlights of a great trip.
